Professional staff.
We are proud of the St Mother family. We look for and hire the best. Our staff includes 80 members, including 25 nurses, 25 nursing assistants, 4 full time doctors, one of whom is an anesthesiologist, 15 reproductive technology laboratory assistants, and 11 ancillary staff on staff who provide excellent professional care to each and every one of our patients. Our staff is driven to provide consistently good service to our patients from the time they initially contact us to the day they go home with a new family member.
We adjust the treatment according to your ovulation cycle.
To improve the probability of getting pregnant, fertility treatment needs to be done in accordance with the ovulation cycle and NOT according to the average clinic's Monday to Friday workweek. Egg harvest and fertilization timing is extremely important and so as to increase success rates and better serve our customers, St Mother's hospital is open year round, and treatment is offered 7 days a week from 9 am to 12 midnight. Our clinic is even open for out patient visits on New Years Day and Obon. (note: Specialized treatments such as in-vitro fertilization, etc are not available on New Years day and during Obon.)
Patient care
Unlike the majority of hospitals in Japan, at St Mother, expectant mothers are comprehensively taken care of throughout the duration of their pregnancy from conception, through delivery, to when they are discharged. This is especially important for older women and women who have experienced some form of infertility since they suffer higher risks rates for endometriosis, postoperative complications, etc...
We adjust the treatment to patients' desires.
An appointment is not needed for the first visit, tests, or harvesting ovum (in vitro fertilization).
Sperm can be frozen and stored during the first visit.
2 or 3 treatments worth of sperm can be colleted and frozen during the first visit. Freezing sperm does not hurt it in any way. Preserving sperm and embryos by freezing is a common practice worldwide and is so accepted that it is also often chosen by couples when a medical reason or some other reason precludes having a child at the current time. Recent improvement of male related infertility treatment show that the rates for success when using fresh, frozen (thawed), or sperm from asthenozoospermic men to be all just as effective.
Ovulation inducing agent (fertility drug) side effects.
To combat these side effects we monitor patients closely for symptoms of allergic reaction, OHSS, etc... Minor side affects occur commonly and when serious ones occur they happen very infrequently (less than 2% of cases). One of our staff doctors is a fully qualified anesthesiologist and our facility is fully prepared for most circumstances where hospitalization might be necessary. In treating such a reaction our facility has some of the most advanced medical systems available if need be, and in the unlikelihood that major care would be needed, a major University medical Hospital is less than one kilometer from our hospital.
Distant Patients.
So as to reduce the inconvenience of unnecessary trips we recommend that distant patients find a reliable gynecologist in their local area who can administer the ovulation-inducing agent and monitor egg development. For those times you will travel here and will be staying overnight, check this web site for accommodations that offer discount rates for our patients.
Research
The current success rate for pregnancy by Invitro fertilization is about 20%. There are very few diseases with only a 20% cure rate and infertility treatment is not an exact science. Every day we are researching new methods and techniques to provide all who want a child the opportunity. Our research has not only been recognized throughout the Japan, and in the United States, but also worldwide.
